About Reinder Dijkhuis
Reinder Dijkhuis lives in Groningen, the Netherlands, from where he draws his comics, writes his weblog and works as a translator. He loves classic rock and folk music, 1960s science fiction novels, Doctor Who, running, swimming, Indian food, coffee, beer and endorphin rushes.
In addition to White House in Orbit (with Geir Strøm), The Eye of the Underworld (also with Geir) as well as other features on the Chronicles of the Witch Queen website, which he edits. He has also made the tongue-in-cheek cartooning tutorial Tips for Lazy Buggers. His biggest print-based project was the comic Gang of 4 for the Dutch children's magazine Hello You!. Gang of 4 and its predecessor Floor ran from 2001 to 2007.
Before focusing on comics, Reinder has worked as a translator, web developer and software localizer. He studied English at the University of Groningen, where he also edited and wrote for a student newspaper and played in the amateur drama group GUTS. In the mid-1990s, he edited the amateur comics magazine Impuls and put out several small-press comics. Most of the material from those is now available online. See a comprehensive list of Reinder's webcomics.
Reinder has played in several bands but has given up the idea of being a mucisian for the time being. He used to teach cartooning workshops for kids, but has given that up as well now that he has a day job as a translator. Not so with the running, swimming and online timewasting.
Reinder created Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan in 1991 and has so far not managed to wrap it up. He is
single taken engagedmarried and spends as much time as he can in Tennessee with his fiancee and her two kids, 3 dogs, 6 goats, 9 chickens, one cat and one slugaway from the Internet and the noise of the stepsons and their Xbox. As of May, 2012, he is unavailable for freelance comics work and likely to remain so for a few years. He can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
